The Beginning of the Church in Midland

Pastors Abel and Valentin Torres

Bro. Valentin and Sis. Maria Torres came to Midland
in June of 1966, along with their five children.
They came to this place with the purpose of beginning a new work.


The first temple was bought in 1969 for the amount of $1,000 and monthly payments
of $35 were given. This small temple could fit only about 100 people. Because the church
was growing at a rapid pace, the congregation saw the need for a larger building.
The building was acquired and moved to the back part of the property and then another
building was bought in St. Lawrence, Teas for $12,000. This building was moved and
completely remodeled. This temple was inaugurated on the 26th of April of 1986 with enough
room for about 250 people. There was then need to add Sunday school rooms to the temple.
The construction which was led by Brother Alvaro Taylor ended in 1995. 

With the continual and tremendous growth of the church and the retirement
of Pastor Valentin Torres, because of his health, and under the leadership
of the new Pastor Abel Torres, there was once again a need for a bigger temple.
Once again the faithful brethren went to work for the work of the Lord and the result
was a beautiful temple with room for approximately 800 people. This temple
was inaugurated in June of 2001. Then in 2008, the members raised the
amount of $20,000 to pave this property for use as a parking lot.

In June of 2009 the church inaugurated its third temple which is located
at 1610 W. Wall St. The Lord continues blessing this congregation
which continues to grow in number.

Los Hnos. Valentin y Maria Torres llegaron a Midland
en junio del 1966, juntamentecon sus cinco hijos.
Vinieron a este lugar con el proposito de empezar una nueva obra.

El primer templo templo se compro en el 1969 por la suma de $1,000 y se
hacian pagos mensuales de $35. Este pequeño templo solamente tenia cupo
como para 100 personas. Por motivo del rapido crecimiento de la congregación,
hubo la necesidad de un templo mas grande y el edificio se adquirio se movio a
la parte de atras del terreno y luego se compro un edificio quen se consiguio
en St. Lawrence, Texas por $12,000. Este edificio se movio para nuestra
propiedad y se remodelo completamente. Este templo se inauguro
 el 26 de abril del 1986 con cupo para aproximadamente 250 personas.
Hubo despues necesidad de agregar cuartos de escuela dominical al templo.
La construcción que fue dirigida por el hermano Alvaro Taylor, se termino en el 1995.


Con el continuo y tremendo crecimiento de la iglesia y el retiro
del Hno. Valentin Torres, por causa de su salud, y bajo la direccion del
nuevo Pastor Abel Torres hubo otra vez mas la necesidad de un templo aun
mas grande. Una vez mas los hermanos fieles se pusieron a trabajar para
la obra de Dios y el resultado fue un hermoso templo con un cupo de
aproximadamente 800 personas. Ese templo fue inaugurado en junio del 2001.
 Luego en el 2008 los miembros  juntaron la cantidad de $20,000 para
 pavimentar este propiedad para uso de estacionamento.

 En Junio del 2009 la iglesia inauguro su tercer templo el cual
esta localizado en el 1610 W. Wall St. El Señor sigue bendiciendo a esta
congregación que sigue creciendo en numero.
